Hello Everyone!
I had recently been asked what the difference between forensic anthropology and bioarchaeology is exactly. Without further ado:
Well to begin forensic anthropology is a subfield of physical or as known as biological anthropology. This subfield is very closely linked to paleoanthropology, because of the techniques used to acquire the information from the human remains. Forensic anthropology, is the application of physical anthropology in a legal setting. Bioarchaeology is the application of archaeology and bioanthropology to figure the health, nutrition etc. of the human remains found at an excavation site.
Now the caveat is usually both field use the same techniques interchangeably, such isotope identification, anatomy, etc. to determine cause of death and other physical attributes that may give more information about the individual's life and death.
